NAVAL DISASTER.
♦ WARSpiP BLOWN UP. MAGAZINE EXPLOSION. GREAT LOSS OF LIFE. (Press Assn. — By Telegraph— Copyright.) RIO JANEIRO, Jan. 25. At midnight on Sunday the powder magazine of tho Brazilian ironclad Aqui daband blew up at Jacaiepugna, wliile the vessel was escorting a Ministerial party aboard the cruiser Barrosso on a tour of inspection of the .-sites for a naval yard. The Aquidaband sank m tliree minutes. It is reported that three hundred people perished. One officer was saved. The drowned included four rear-ad-mirals, a number of naval officers, and Government officials, who Avere guests of the Aquidabaud. (Received January 24, 8.35 a.m.) Ninety-eight of thore aboard the Aquidaban wcro saved and 212 lost.
