WHARF ACCOMMODATION.

(To the Editor of the Herald.l Sir,— l see by the "Herald" of last evening that the cargo could not be taken out of the lighters as there was no room m the Harbor Board sheds. Having been carting from the wharf all day I think I am m a position to know n'tieflier that was so or not. Having cargo t& get fron 1 Sunday's steamer I took my order and asked where the. goods were, and was told the lighter could ltoi be discharged, there being no room to put the cargo. I wont again at 3 p.m., and was told by those m authority that they could get no men to unload the lighters, all the men being at work on the boats, which were loading mutton and wool. I notice, sir, t hat the sheds at the wharf are never so small as when there are Home boats m the hay, then they get about half the usual size. Again, we sometimes see a notice m the papers telling people their goods will be put on the wharf at the consignee's risk. If tihose m charge, can do this with cargo when it suits them, why not do the same when the sheds are too small? This is not the first time people's goods have been delayed through the same ca.use. I should not trouble you on this matter, sir, but for the fatet of so many carters complaining of the same thing.— l am, etc., E. YARDLEY.
