GREAT PETROLEUM FIRE.
. — + — i— , % VIENNA, November 24. A lire occurred iv tlie petroleum wells, at Borislaw, Galiciu,, early this morning and spread with fearful rapidity. At 9 o clock thiis evening 20 wells, with their towers, pumps and, appliances, -were completely burnt out, and the fire is still raging -in two others. Thirty-five- ho\wes m the neighborhood were destroyed. For several hours an area of a square mile was one sea of flumes, which leapt 600 ft into the air, and were visible at Cracow-, 180 miles distant.. The dtuuagiis enormous, and is estimated at two millions sterling. It is stated to be covered iby insurance. There are many Euglish among the shareholders m the Napthtt Industry Company, which, owned most uf the well*, which were destroyed. Three lives were lost. It is thought that the outbreak is due to the carelessness of a night watchman.
