— — • At the Waerenga-a-hika stock sale, held yesterday by Messrs Common, Shelton and Co., Limited, Dalgety and Co., Limited, and Wylie and Mason, there was a large attendance,' attracted principally by fche entry of heifers from Hawke's Bay. Owing, doubtless, to the scarcity of t feed due to the continued dry weather, i buyers were slow m bidding, and ,the sale \ lacked the spirit which characterised the ■ December sale, especially for sheep. All things considered, however,, cattte sold I fairly well, 378 head being sold out of am entry of 472. Entries of sheep totalled c 2700, of which 1500 were sold. Prices rea- c lised were:— Fat and forward bullocks, I £8 to £9 5s } forward three-year steers £7 10s; 2£-year steers, £6 to £6 6s; 2£- a year heifers, from Hawke's Bay (a choice s lot), £6 6s; 18-monfchs heifers, £4 -15s to , £5; yearling do., £3 17s 6d; 18rinonths ' steers, £5 ; yearling do., £3 4s ; weaners, l 295 ; springing cows and heifers, £5 10s * to £7 ss ; shorthorn- bulls, from £8 to ' £21 (the latter for a, Hawke's Bay'bull). \ Sheep: Store wethera, m forward con- * dition, 10s to 10s 7dj ewes do., 7s 9d * to ,10s ; aged ewes, m wool, with lambs (all counted), ss; aged ewes,' shorn, m I low condition, 3s 6d ; cull lambs, m wool, * 3s 3d to 4s.
