Ful!-brother to that great horse Lexington (2.304) and Honduras (5.3), ly Berlin (imp.), b_ Woodford Mambrino <.2.27) dam Sue Dudley (2.18), dam Fanny Allan (2.30), by Bill Allan, imp: (2.22), dam Fanny Milkmaid. ROBERT W. is a dark bay, with black points (no white), stands 16 hands 2 inches m height. He is compactly and symetiically built, strong m the quarters, with legs like iron, and a neck and crest denoting character and power. He has immense bone, power and substance, and a beautiful mild temper, and without doubt one of the very best all-round horses m the colony m the matter of size, quality, breeding, and speed. He was admitted by expert judges to be one of the best single harness horses ever seen m the South Island, both for step and style ; and on breeding lines he stands second to none. Berlin (imp.), his sire, is the founder of trotting m New Zealand. He is the sire of the following good horses: General Tracey (a great lorse, and the sire, of Victory), Kentuckey, Calista, Miss Hilda, Tekaro, Wilkin, Lady Jane, -Dakota, Lincoln Yet, Berlin Maid, Lexington, Honduras, Fleigher, Bahaine, Mambrino, Abdallah ; also, those beautiful mares, Fraulein and Puella, fullsisters. Fraulein, the dam of Australia's champion Fritz (2.13^) and The Heir, the best colt m New Zealand; Puella, the dam of Almont (2.21), the champion of New Zealand to-day ; and numerous others who have been registered as high-class trotters. Robert W.'e performances class him as a trotter of high merit. The following are his only times of starting : — ln the Southland Handicap, 2 miles, he was second to Artist, beating Kilrush, Darby, Miracle, Jack, Mistake, Allan Douglas, and Beauty; the Oamaru Handicap, 2 miles he was second to Reprieve, beating Gleniti, Three Cheers, Sydney, Von Wilkis, and nine others ; at Tahuna, Christchurch, m the Ocean Beach Handicap, 1 mile, Robert W. was put on the 4sec mark, giving big starts to good horses; he won by six. lengths, pulling up, beating Skip (27sec), Haymaker (24 sec), Valour (scr), -Moana (6sec), Gleniti (16sec), Kerryall (16sec), Gertie (18sec), laiewi (24sec), Split Ear (27sec) ; time, 2min 43sec. Horses bred on the same lines are m great , demand all over the colony. In Dunedin and Canterbury they are used for cavalry and weightcarrying hacks and superior carriage horses. Much needed m this district, and if mated with heavy mares he should produce good- artillery horses, combining both strength and speed ;. also, horses of general utility. He has proved himself a sure foal-getter, having served the company's private mares last season. Owners of mares with trotting blood m them should not overlook this horse, he being the only standard-bred sire m this district. Mares sent to Robert W. will have a well-grassed fifty-acre, paddock to run m, with plenty of good running water. One month's . grazing free; after that a charge of 2s 6d per week will be made. For the convenience of mares with foals, he will .travel a reasonable distance. Mares left with Mr F. S. Des Barres, Masonic Stables, will, be forwarded on without any further charges.. Covering fees to be paid before removal of mares. Every care will be taken, but no responsibility incurred. TERMS : £3 10s single mares ; two or more, as per agreement. Full particulars from — A.
