Tnmbull and Co. £100, anonymous v ; £100, Aitken, Wilson, and Co. 60 guineas." A very influential meeting attended the :'?: : Mayor s summons to consider measures for starting a war fund. After some dis- r> oußßion aa to the method of appropriating the money subscribed, some "of tfibse* •" present being in favor of handing it all to '■'*■ the Imperial Fund, it was unanimously ;. resolved to devote the money first to tho >$. members of our own contingent's woanded 5v or injuriously affected and to the relativesdependent on them, next to :Britieh ■/ aoldierß and sailors, and thirdly to the > refugees. A Committee was appointed to take the matter in hand. The following >^ further subscriptions . were announced : ■ - :; Messrs Staples and Co. £157 10s, Messrs Duthie and Co. £62 10s, Messrs — Bannautyne and . Co. £52 10s, Miss j. Tumbulf £60, Mr R. T. Turnbull £60. Smaller sums brought the total to some ' ~< £800. . . .-:..' 1 :. Mr W. S. Young, of Manaia, has pro-' sented two cavalry horses for the NewZealand contingent, and the Direot Importing Company has offered to make all the uniforms gratis. The City Council „ has gran ted the use of the Newtown'Park ; : as a site for the encampment. - ..--■'-■'■. The Government have received offers of troop horses from the following :— Frieda lander Bros., Ashburton, five horses; F arsons Bros., Kaikoura, , two horses;: J. C. Young, Westport, one horse; Hon. i'-f . Lee-Smitb, one horse. Offers for service from the Wellington volunteers are still rolling in. Among those who have volun- ':'. teered is Norvell Jameson, a nephew of ■:'.'.• Dr Jameson. .
