WARD FARMERS' ASSOCIATION.

' (Per Press Association.) Inveroargill, this day. At a meeting of upwards of two hundred shareholders of the J. G. Ward Farmers' Association, Mr Ward made proposals for repayment to the old shareholders of the amount they had been called upon to pay. the liquidator. He stated that on the date when the liquidator took charge, namely, 23rd. June, 1896, the total net indebtedness of the Association to its bankers under all heads, including debentures, amounted to £78,363,- and the total receipts up to 30th June last as filed by the liquidators with the Registrar were £71,657, so it was clearly demonstrated upon these results that the statement originally made by him, and on which he always maintained that the business never should have been liquidated, was more than borne out, and they had still further collections to make. He read letters from English firms conßrming the payments made by him to them. At the conclusion of Mr Ward's remarks the shareholders unanimously resolved to support him in reforming the Ward Farmers' Company, and the following resolution was carried • unanimously : "That Mr Ward be accorded cordial thanks for his lucid and able explanation of the affairs of the Association." The mover remarked that they were all deeply indebted to Mr Ward for the information given and for his offer. It was unanimously resolved : " That it is with pleasure we learn that the business of the Ward Farmers' Association is to be revived, and that we will do all we can to promote its interests."
