Captain Edwin wired this afternoon as follows :—" Gale from between west and south-west and south at all places north of Thames and Manakau ; strong from between north-east and north-west from thence southward to Castlepoiut and New Plymouth, and strong from northeast to east and south elsewhere. Barometer rise at all places north of Thames and Manakau ; fall everywhere else. Sea heavy on West Coast north of Westport, and on East Coast south of East Cape and south of Napier. Tides generally high. 1
