CONTRACTS FOR MORE BATTLESHIPS. (Electric Telegraph— Copyright— United Press Association.) London, Jan. 14. Contracts have been let with various British shipbuilding companies for the construction of new British battleships. It is supposed that these contracts are being let in anticipation of Parliamentary authority for the building of the vessels. Laird Brothers, of Birkenhead, and Palmer Company, of Barrow, have each contracted with the British Admiralty for the construction of a battleship. The Times states that the Clydebank. and Fairfield Shipbuilding Companies have contracted for two more battleships. The VicUers Company, of Barrow, have contracted for the second gigantic cruiser provided in Mr Goschen's naval scheme. ————————
