The owners of the Cromartyshire, which collided with and sank the French liner La Botirgogne off the coast of Nova Scotia in July Tasfc, have obtained damages against the owners of the La Bourgogne. It Was alleged that the latter vessel was travelling at an excessive rate of speed in fog at the time of the disaster. Mr Roper's while-haired fox terrier Go Bang has been sold for £000. At a large meeting at Westminster, tinder the auspices of the Protestant Union, a resolution was adopted deciding to draw up a memorial to the Queen to prevent the clergy undoing the work of thcßeformation. The Miners' Federation have resolved to Urge amendments to the Workers' Compensation Act, co as to include all trades. The omission of the clause relating to wilful serious misconduct is recommended, also the immediate payment of compensation and abolition of the "contracting out " system. At the Westminster meeting Lords Kinnaird afld Middleton, President of the National Protestant Church Union, and the Right Hon. John Kennaway, President of the Church Missionary Society, spoke.
