THE DREYFUS DRAMA.

Electrio Telegraph— Copyright— United Press Association.) Pabis, Jan. 11. M. Beaurepaire, who has resigned from the Court of Cassation, complains that Bard Loew, one of the judges, had a \ private interview with Colonel Picquart and ordered him hotgrog, and treated him with greater consideration than a general. M. de Blowitz says that M. Beaurepaire's relations with his colleagues have loug been strained. (Received Jan. 12, 9 a.m.) The Dreyfus «,ise is at present being ' dealt with by the criminal section of the Court of Cassation. An agitation ia afoot to transfer it to all sections of the Court sitting together. A ballot resulted in the appointment of M. Deupre as member of the Court of . Cassation in succession to M. Beaurepaire. A correspondent of the London Daily Chronicle wrote recently :— "The opinion is practically univeral in Paris that the Cour de Cassation will pronounce for a revision of the trial of ex-Captain Dreyfus, or for a simple quashing of the first trial. ' The former, if carried out in the light of day, will entail the disgrace of one , general, if not two, die cashiering of : several officers holding high rank in the • French army, and the eSectnal demolition of the monument of lies and forgeries erected by the General Staff, with the more or less tacit co-operation of successive Ministers of War. The latter will inevitably necessitate the immediate prosecution of certain individuals, and the involving of some highly l>laced personages in charges of the gravest character. Organised efforts are, therefore, being made by certain champions of disorder, aided by those persons, 'military and civil, who have reasons to dread ■ the light, to make the publication of the ■ decision of the Cour de Cassation synonymous with a riotous outburst in Paris, preliminary to a resolute attempt to over- '• throw the civil power, should the results turn out satisfactory to the promoters, ■ and should the ground be sufficiently cleared for the accomplishment of that purpose. One of the contemplated features of the riots was to be the assassination of some of the distinguished Frenchmen who have been striving so manfully to avert the evils which are ruining their country. These men have been marked down for , assassination, and the Paris police is aware of the fact."
