A Patea cattle-dealer is reportd to have escaped paying tolls on the country road near Inglewood by renting a paddock with a long road frontage, which enables him to put his cattle in at one end and remove them, after they have rested, at the other. The toll-keeper sued the dealer in respect of a mob of 160 cattle which escaped payment ot toll in this, way, bub the Magistrate dismissed the case, holding that the cattle were put into the paddock for accommodation, nob to evade toll.
