The Late Bishop Luck.

' i At a solemn requiem mass sung at. the fc^ftathedral this morning in connection with Vthe death of Bishop Luck, Bishop Grimes, of Christchurch, delivered an eloquent panegyric on deceased's personal qualities, and also his lahors in the cause of the Church. He took his text from 11. Timothy IV., 7 and 8, and said the words gave the keynote to the late bishop's life. The funeral will be held this afternoon, and it is expected to be the largest held for years. Bishop Luck, by his will, has left nothing j personally to his successors, but everything for the use of the diocese and church. Bishop Luck was seized with spasms of the heart on Wednesday night after tea, and on a second seizure next morning at 6.30 died while being removed from a chair lo bed. Flags were half-mast at the city flagstaff, municipal buildings, and fire brigade station. Many tradesmen put up their shutters in token of respect. Telegrams of condolence were received from Archbishop Redwood, who arrived on Wednesday, and Bishop Grimes, Christchurch, who is expected to arrive for the funeral to-day at the Onehunga Catholic cemetery, and clergy of other Southern dioceses. Father Lenehan has been appointed administrator in conjunction with Monsignor Paul, the VicarGeneral. ____^_____
