The Shrew and Stepfeldt led for j half a mile, when Bessie McCarthy and Pompom closed on them. Along the back Stepfeldt and The Shrew gave way to Skirmisher and Beßsie McCarthy, the latter being in front by the road, but at the straight Brooklet came with a rattle, and with Skirmisher led into tho straight. Saracen and Spindrift then put in a claim, and though the former cut down the others she could not reach Brooklet, who won by a length and a half, Spindrift third.
