MORE ABOOTT THE MIOWERA.
San Francisco, Oct. 19.— The Miowera entered the harbour passage while the pilot was lighting the lamps on the buoys, making the channel at 8 o'clock oil the evening of 2ml October. Her engines are uninjured. Five tugs and steamers tried to get her off without success. Lloyds fear that she will become a total wreck, owing to her stern being immovable. The s.s. Australia conveyed her passengers and mails to f?au Francisco. London, Oct. 19. — The Times says the disaster to the Miowera proves the urgent need of a Pacific cable. London, Oct. 24. — The s.s. Arawa has been chartered to take the Miowera's next run to Vancouver. The Arawa will start from Sydney on November IS. The chartering of this steamer is regarded as a favorable opportunity of testing what chance there is fo opening up a frozen meat trade with C -uada.
