The girl, who was enormously stout for her age, comnlainod of a headache and pains in tho leg. On Monday she told her sister that she was going to Mr Smith's to get aome strychnine, the inference being that she intended to do away with herself. The sister, who was only twelve years old, told her she was foolish to talk that way, and asked deceased to allow her to accompany her to the chemist's shop. Tho request was refused. Last night the girl asked a boy named Attwood, aged eleven, for a drink of water, which he procured for her. The boy saw her put some powder in her mouth. She then sat down on a chair, attempted to get up, but fell back again. Dr. Heale was shortly iv attendance, but on his arrival he pronounced life extinct. It is alleged that the conduct of the deceased had not been proper of laot, and that her home surroundings were not of a desirable character. This morning a prohibition order was issued against her father.
