A REQUEST.
Sir,— Will you allow me, in writing, to finish a sentence I intended to speak, when interrupted by such demonstrative " applause " last night ? I had just stated that we, the li working men," had no need of a champion, that we could solve the labor question by organisation, wliich is extending its influence rapidly. I say distinctly that Mr Rees in his book " Poverty to Plenty," does not apprehend the situation. On the contrary, lie condemns the very means which are now proving so elective. Also read page 443 regarding aiother agitation. His very recent utterances do not accord with the statement thsre made. My object is to point out the inconsistency, and to appeal to the intelligence of the electors, how utterly untrustworthy and fallacious are many of his election promises in tlie face Of liis writtsn convictions in the book I have referred to. — I am, Ac, W. L. File.
