Auckland Live Stock Market.
The following is Messrs Hunter and Nolan's weekly report : -
Horses : An average ninnbei 1 were brought forward and found purchasers, hut. the demand was not spirited. The number entered fur disposal by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday was scarcely so large as usual, and except for a few lots bidding was not brisk, but most of them changed hands. We quote hacks from L 5 to Ll2, light harness lorses Lfi 5s to Ll3, medium draught LG to Ll4 10s. Wool, hides, skins, etc. : About the usual quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday. — Ynere " was a spirited demand and an upward tendency in value for good heavy hides. We quote ox 3d to 4jd per lb, cow ljd to 2jd, sheep skins 2s 4d to os 8d each.
Cattle : Increased numbers have been brought forward, and except for dairy stock the demand has been brisk, at a slight advance on the previous week's values. There was an increased muster at Newmarket on Tuesday. Competition was bettor for dairy stock than on the previous week, but prices were still in favor of the purchaser. A limited number of stores were yarded, sellers holding back for the .special store sale on Monday. More fat beasts would have found purchasers at prices in advance of the previous week at per lOOlbs. Some averages of fat steers were L 7 15s, L 7 7s (sd, L 7 3s, L<> 17s, Ltt Bs, Lfi 7s 6d, L(> (is 3d, L 5 12s fid, L 5 7s (5d ; cows, L 4 17s Oil, L 4 ss, L 3 15s, L 3 7s (sd.
Sheep : Not quite so many as usual were penned at Newmarket on Tuesday. Competition was keen, and 2s per 81b was given. Wethers sold at from 13s 9d to 17s : ewes, 12s 9d to 14s (sd. Lambs were plentiful and sold at from 8s to 11s 9d each.
Pigs : An average number were yarded, and reached from 2d to 3d per lb. live weight, according to quality. Well-bred suckers sold at 11s each.
