TENNIS CLUB BALL.

The ln«t ball of the season took pl.ioo lust uiyht in Macfarlano's Hall. There was a good attendance of country folk, but the townspeople were not well represented. A most enjoyable evening was spent by all present. The floor was in good condition,and the hall was decorated with tennis paraphenalia. The catering was excellent, but there was a scarcity of liquid refreshment. Mr Airey presided at the piano, which was thought by some present to be insutlicicnt music.

Williams, Parris, Butt, Chambers, Reynolds, Knight, Greenwood, Sweet, Snndevland, Cleghorn, Buscke, Thomson, McPhail, Finn, and Wetherel ; Misses Dunlop, Tucker, Dorau, Taylor, Croft, Booth (2), Brail ley, McKenzie (2), Laukie, Barry, Reynolds, Holroyde, Campbell (2), Mills, Quenin, Barker (3), Gould, Field, Crawford, Lovoday, Lysnar, Andrews, and Adair (2) ; Messrs Parker, Wethored (2), Innes, Tucker, Wilson, F. Skeet, Harding, Parnoil, Simms, E. J. Chrisp, Hennessy, Watson, Sherratt, A. N. Williams, Butt, Parris, Barnard, Bourke (2), Mouat, Campbell, Knight, Greenwood, Sweet, Hume, Dalrympie, Tifl'en, Branson, Dawson, Gilmore, Taswill, Busehio, L. Rees, Staite, J. Bourke, Finn, Adair, Grant, Louden and Robison. The following is a short account of the most noticeable dresses : Mrs Sunderland looked handsome in green brocaded silk with cream marvelleux front ; Mrs Chambers, French grey panjean, looked exceedingly well ; Mrs Williams, very nice in green silk toilette with pink ribbons ; Mrs Parris (bridal costume). The dresses of Missus Tucker, Cam:>lu-11. Reynolds, Holroyde, Could, and Crii\viW«l were the most noticeable amongst those of the single ladies.
