Sydney, Sept. 10. At TattersaU's this evening Ellerdale was supported to win the Metropolitan Stakes for £2000 at 2(.5)t0 1. Backers were willing to go on at thafc price, but at the finish 4 to one was the best price obtainable against the Hawkesbury winner. Abercorn is an equal favorite with Ellerdale at 4to 1. Five to 1 can be got about Wycombe, find 10 fco 1 against The Tyler. For the A.J.C. Derby, Merriment, winner of the Hawkesbury guineas, was installed favorite, and after 2 to 1 had been taken, 7 to 4 was the besfc price against Mr Gannon's candidate for the V.R.C. Derby. The New Zealand colt Dunkeld found takers at 7 to 1, winding up at 5 to 1, he being a popular pick. Wellington, to-day.
