RIOTS IN THK DOCKS.

MOLESTING OF " BLACKLEG!^ ' London, Sept, 17. The strikers continue to molest the "blacklegs," and to-day 250 of the latter were chased from shod to shed at the Albert dock, dually being penned in a corner, but a pousc of police prevented actual violence taking place, although the aggressors numbered 1000. In consequence of this disturbance, a deputation from the directors of the Dock Companies waited on Mr J. Munro, C.8., Chief Commissioner of Police., requesting him to disperse the rioters. Commissioner Munro declined to take action, on the ground that his subordinates had reported that matters are going on as smoothly as could possibly bo expected under the circumstances. The molesting has occurred at other docks as well as the Albert dock, but the disturbers of the peace were promptly paid off. It is believed that loafers, and uot genuine dock hands, are responsible for the outrages. At one of the docks to-day thirty "blacklegs," who were hotly pursued by 1 50 strikers, narrowly escaped being killed bj' a dock engine. Many of the "blacklegs " are terrified at the hostile action of the strikers, and have abandoned their work in consequence. Sept. IS. Two thousand fresh men from the provinces are already competing for work at the docks. The leaders of the strikers are using every endeavor to induce the men to adhere to the terms agreed on between them and the Dock Companies.
