LONDON, Sept. 17. Sir F. D. Bell replaces Sir Chas. Mills (Cane Colony), who was selected as one of the committee to act with Mr Goschen's departmental committee, to report on the investment of trust funds in colonial securities. . Sept. 18. The Associated Chambers of Commerce at Hull support the conference of the Imperial Government and the colonies to solve the question of Imperial federation, and urge the extension of the Merchandise Marks Act. N.Z. mutton is quoted at 5d per lh. PARIS, Sept. IS. In the course of a speech to-day Mr Andrieux, member for the Department of Rhone, accused the Government of spending twenty million francs in bribing the press and candidates for the Chamber. He stated tho money was obtained by blackmailing the Credit Foucier and the Panama Canal Company. NEW YORK, Sept. IS. Deputy-Marshal Nagle, who shot dead Mr Terry, barrister, of California, for striking Chief Justice Field at the railway station in the early part of last month, has virtually been acquitted on the charge and released from custody. A lire occurred yesterday in a large dry goods warehouse at Louisville, Kentucky, by which a million dollars worth of damage was done. Six firemen perished in the flames.
