THE GIRL'S EVIDENCE. Auckland, to-d;iy. TJic police force are pursuing the abductors of the Maori girl Haungariri. They arrested four men and four women at a settlement n mile and a half inland from Waiwera. They were remanded for a week. Bail was allowed. In her evidence Mere Haungariri deposed that on Sunday morning the prisoners came to her father's house at Ok ura. The four women dragged her out of the house, and in struggling her clothes were torn off. She was given new clothes by the prisoners. After she was taken outside the house the prisoners proceeded to carry her off ; her father resisted them, but after a little while, fearing she would be hurt, he let her go. After leading her from the house for some distance they put her on a horse, and the party then went to a settlement at Waiwera.
