I feel that I cannot let this opportunity pass without thanking your committee for the prompt and valuable assistance given by you to the troop under my command, on any occasion when such assistance was urgently required, as there can be no doubt that had it not been for the vigorous steps taken by your committee serious consequences would have resulted.
