Auckland, to-day. Tho hearing of the cases against the eight spielers arrested at the Ellerslie racecourse is concluded. John Grappel, John Hart, Fred. Holmes, Charles Shearman, and Allan Cockburn were each fined £30 or to undergo two months' imprisonment, and Albert Chatband £50 or three months, Similar charges of unlawful gaming against McOonnolly and S. Smith were dismissed.
