THE CAIN MURDER.
TRUE BILL : JUDGE'S CHARGE, Dunedin, to-day.
The Grand J ury yesterday brought in a true bill against Hall for the murder of the late Captain Cain at Timaru. The trial begins on Monday. There will be a strong array of counsel on both sides. Unusual care is being taken to guard against crushing the Courthouse during the trial. Admission will be limited, and by ticket only, holders of which will obtain their seats at the end of the hall. The seats facina the jury-box will be reserved for the witnesses. Sheriff Gordon has been besieged for applications for admission. Later. The judge, in his charge to the Grand Jury in Hall's case, after reviewing the evidence, summed up to the following effect : — Cain's death was accelerated by antimony. The hypothesis of accidental administration, or of having been wilfully taken by himself, is improbable. Hall had constant access to Cain. Hall had antimony in his possession, and had studied the subject of antimonial poisoning. Hall was certainly in want of money, and j Cain's death would help to give him some. The case is to be tried on Monday. Mrs Newton and Mrs Wren, having both been recently confined, thier attendance been dispensed with at the Hall trial, and thier depositions will be put in. !
