Sydxey, to-day. It 13 expected that the general elections will be concluded within a month from the present date. LiTEU. 11l the Legislative Assembly yesterday Mr Burns, the new Colonial Treasurer, took his seat on the Government benches. The seats of Ministers are declared vacant and new writs are being issued. A deficit in the Budget of £2,500,000 has been announced. Both Houses of Parliament havegranted two months' supplies. Sir Henry Parkes will explain the policy of the new Government on Monday next. Later. At a meeting of the Opposition a Committee was appointed for the purpose of submitting a programme for the forthcoming general elections. Sir Patrick Jennings intimated that he would be unable to act as leader of the Opposition. It is probable that Parliament will be dissolved on Tuesday next.
