AUCKLAND STEEPLECHASE.
Auckland, this day. The Steep'echasa race waa run over again on Saturday. 2000 persons were present. Distance, 3| miles. The result was: — Linwood 1 Sunray ... 2 Julia Ann 3 Alaric, New Year, Bang, Exchange, and Wide-awake also ran. Clarence and The Lad w§re scratched. Barbary was shot in consequence of injuries received the previous day. Alaric was the favorite. It was a grand race, and was won by a neck. Dividend, £13 10s.
Messrs Beresford and Weston having jone to considerable expense on the Macaraka training ground, now offer it for raining purposes on terms advertised. It is notified by advertisement that lominations for the Handicap Hurdles .nd Wairoa Handicap, to be run on ranuary 31, close on Thursday evening tB. Martini-Henri will never again grace a acecourse, as he is now to be sent to the tud.
