WELLINGTON.
This Day. The Circuit Sittings, of the Supreme Court commenced yesterday. The Hinemoa left here on Saturday for New Plymouth with further reinforcements, and returning yesterday morning with eighteen more prisoners. Mr. Simmonds, the Treasurer of the Opera Troupe, was arrested on Satarday as it was thought he was going to decamp from - the Colony. He was brought up at the R.M.'s Court yesterday, having been sued by the several members of the Company. Judgment was given against him in some of the cases, and others adjourned.- He was released on paying into Court the sums sued for, amounting to fifty-one pounds. A deputation of Otago members waited on the .Premier yesterday, arguing the claims of the County Council of Otago for the payment of £54,000 from land revenue kept back from them. The Premier promised to consult his colleagues with a view of giving effect to the request of the deputation.
