June 9. The National Reform League propose a monster bazaar to raise funds for the acclimatisation of Californian salmon, the English salmon having proved a failure. Victoria has been requested to send vaccine matter to Fiji, a ship with small pox on board having arrived at the islands. At present the disease is confined to the ship. The Anstraliari and European Bank will re-open if its depositors continue to support it. Mr. M'Gregor, the Government Whip, is insolvent. The Aconcagua brings news from Cape Town to the 18th May. Cetewayo has made fresh overtures of peace, and sent an envoy to Colonial Clark, the officer in command at Fort Chelmsford. On hearing this General Crearlock, commanding the district, despatched an envoy to ascertain if the proposals were honorable. The depositors in the Australian and European Bank have agreed not to remove the balances of their current accounts within a certain time The investigation of the affairs of the bank is satisfactory ; £30,000 will fully cover any likely loss. A call will be made of £1 per share, payable in two instalment — the first in July, and the second in August next. The Provincial Bank investigation shows" that the expected assets will realise £15,000 to £20,000 moro than was estimated. A call of £1 per share, together with the present assets, will cover the liabilities. It was resolved to wind up voluntarily.
