CARLYLE WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
ORDINARY MEETING
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Carlyle Women’s Institute was held on Thursday last, May Bth, at the residence of Mrs. E. Burgess, there being a good attendance of members.
Mrs. E. Mercer read a comprehensive repoirt of the South Taranaki Federation meeting, which was held at Hawera recently.
Arrangements were completed for several members to attend the Hazel .Johnson dressmaking classes, which are commencing this month. . A further quantity of knitted articles was handed in by members on behalf of the Bed Cross for soldiers’ comforts. .
During the afternoon a very interesting demonstration of poker work was given by Mrs. H. Pcacocke. Winners of a competition for the best knitted article were Mrs. H. Moore 1, Mrs. D. Butters 2, Mrs. J. Cooper H. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs.. E. Burgess and Mrs. E. Fairwcather, after which Mrs. Peacoekc (president), thanked Mrs. Burgess for her hospitality, and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
