RIFLE SHOOTING

HAMERTON CUP •J. HUSTON AND R. PARKER TIE There was a variable light and a tricky wind on Saturday afternoon when the service shoot competition for the Hamerton Cup was held. J. Huston and It. Parker, both scratch men tied with a score of 62. Conditions were two 7-shot shoots, application at .TOO yards. No slings were allowed. The tie will be decided by a shoot off on closing day. Martin won from O. Bedfern 'with a brilliant 48 oil the rifle; a very fine performance. Rifleman Martin thoroughly deserved his win, as he has shot consistently throughout the season. First year members have shot remarkably well this year, and if supplies of ammunition are available it is certain that many of these members will become first class shots.
