MOTOR CYCLIST HURT

CRASH AT NEW PLYMOUTH. SERIOUS INJURIES RECEIVED. When a motor cycle ridden by Arnold Carr, New Plymouth, collided with a stationary motor car on Breakwater Road, New Plymouth, between 7 and 8 o’clock on Tuesday night, Carr was seriously injured and the cycle struck the front of the car with’ such force that it drove the bumper bars and radiator back on to the fore part of the engine and remained jammed in an upright position after the crash. Robert Scott, a farmer, living in Breakwater Road, New Plymouth, was driving his car out of Pioneer Road near the freezing 'works when ho noticed the cyclist travelling towards town at a fair speed. He decided to pull up and wait until the cyclist had passed before taking the corner, but when approaching the intersection the rider suddenly swerved and collided head on with the car. The rider was thrown on to the bonnet and then rolled off on to the roadway. He received a compound fracture of the leg and extensive abrasions and was later admitted to New Plymouth Hospital, where his condition' is reported to be serious. •
