HIS MAJESTY’S BROADCAST
MESSAGE TO THE EMPIKE. At 4 o'clock this morning His "Majesty King Edward VIII. broadcast his iirst radio talk to his subjects of the British Empire from the 8.8.0. London. The message, which was plainly heard in Pa to a, opened with a loving tribute to the memory of his father, who, as the present King, so aptly put it, “reigned in. the hearts of his people.’’ After thanking the people of the Empire for their countless messages of sympathy and loyalty to the throne, His Majesty went on to say that he was better known to them as the Prince of Wales, who had visited practically every part of the Empire, and who knew the problems of his people and would contrive to do his utmost to serve them. “May the future bring peace and understanding throughout the world, and peace and happiness to the- British people, and may we bo worthy of our heritage,” he concluded.
