OBITUARY

AIRS. HENRY WARD. The 'many friends of Airs. Hoary Ward, oiu! of the pioneer soU-Uts .of (l-o Paten district, will learn with deep regret of» her death, which took place at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. H. Stent, of'.Wanganui East. The deceased -lady, who was in her 81st year, 'arrived in thd Dominion some 57 years ago, coining first to Wanganui and afterwards to Waver-h-y and Nukumaru, and later to To Roti, where Mr. Ward took up land, which he fanned for some years,- leaving there for Kakaraiuca, where Mr. ami Mrs. Ward resided for nearly half a century, practically t||e whole of their later years being spent in the Tvakaramoa and Patca districts. , Mr. Ward predeceased Mrs. Ward some years ago. The late Mrs. Ward was the mother of Patca’s present Mayoress, Mrs. F. Ramsbottom, and was much lo.vcd for her gentle x and kindly nature. She is survived by a family of three sons and six daughters; for whom the deepest sympathy will be felt. The funeral, which was attended by settlors from far and near, took place at .the. Patca Cemetery yesterday, the Rev, H. B. Burnett officiating. There wore an exceptionally large number of wreaths 'and floral emblems, testifying to the high esteem and affection felt for the deceased throughout the district.
