They were met lay various local residents 'with their cars and conveyed to the beach, where a most enjoyable time was spent in bathing, racing, and games. A cricket match on the sands was- an additional attraction. Tlic visitors were cordially welcomed by Mr. T. J. Scott, president of the Seaside Improvement Society, who placed their dressing sheds and conveniences nt their disposal, and did ■everything to make the visit enjoyable one. Mr. and Mm it. W. Had do w were also present at the beach and assisted in the welcome to the visitors, Mr. Haddow very kindly offering them the ■nse of the Town Hall in the event of rain falling.

Before the gathering left for the station Mr, Ross Meiklo expressed his appreciation of the hearty welcome accorded the visitors. He also extended their very hearty thanks to the Borough Council and those residents who had generously assisted in the transportation of the visitors from the station to the beach and back, this being clone without any tin toward incident and''With the utmost despatch. Owing to the large number of people travelling on the special trn'in, which continued on to New Plymouth, there was not sufficient room on the return train for the picnic party, and a special train luuV.to be sent from Wanganui to convoy them bach.
