KAKARAMEA
SCHOOL PICNIC AT HAWERA. Seventy cliildrcn from tlio Kakaramoa School journeyed by car ami by a lorry kindly lent by Mr. Jos. Watt, to Havre ra recently, where they spent a very happy picnic at the Ha worn Park with the scholars of the Tokaora and Mangahumc Schools. Miss Leversedge, head teacher, and Miss E. Dale, assistant, were in charge, and were assisted by the members of the School Committee, Messrs. H. J. Hall (chairman), P. W. Tong (secretary), P. C. Hamblyn, L. G. Morris, and K. Carmichael. On their way to the park the children visited the Hawera Water Tower and the Hawera Baths, whore M. and E. 'Harctakcr qnulificcl foy their 50 yards swimming certificates.
Mr. Hall returned thanks to the custodian, Mr. J. Dow die, for his kind attention to the children.
Games and sports were enjoyed at the park, the following being the results: — 'girls. Primers: M. Wards 3, P. Thomson 2■ H. Young 3. Standards 2 and 3: H. Hamlin 1, G. Chamberlain 2, N. Wards 3. Standards 4 and 5: K. Hamblyn 3, P. Wards 2. Standards 5 and C: ,G. M. Hamlin 1, J. Chamberlain 2, A. Hardaker 3. BOYS. Primers; E. Welsh 3, B. Cohama 2, J. Stanbridge 3. Standards 2 and 3: A. Hale 1, H. Heal 2, R. Richardson 3. Standards 4 and 5: S. Hamlin 1, H. Wards 2, M. Mossop 3. Standards 5 and (i: A. Thomson- 3, F. Stanbridge 2, A. Chamberlain 3. Prizes -were given to all winners ami also to the tiny tots.
