ANNUAL SALE OF WORK. The annual sale of work in connection with St. Stephen’s Church, which took place in the Town Hall on Friday afternoon, proved in every way most satisfactory, and those who for many weeks have been working so hard have every reason to congratulate themselves. Miss Matthews, the very capable and energetic -secretary, had arrangements well in hand for the day. The stallholders -were as follows: — Plain and Fancy Work: Mesdanics Coles, Sheen, Hiekford, Misses Symes, and Ncwing. This stall was laden with a very fine class of work of every description, and whs responsible for raising £(l2 Ss 9d. Produce: Mcsdamcs Graham, Fowler, F. R. Palmer, and Ell. This stall did excellent work, making a clean sweep of everything saleable on the stall, and handed over £53 Ss lOd.

Cake Stall: Mesdamos Brewer, B. W. Harvey, D. Lupton, who made themselves responsible for this stall, found quick sale for their goods, and by the end of the day had totalled £23. The toy stall, which delighted the hearts of the children, was run by Mesdamos Barrow, Hunter, Misses Parker, Hiekford, and Sheen, and did splendid work. The amount raised was £.lB Os Id. The flower stall, with its blaze of colour, attracted many, and Mesdamos Wallace and Dickie, who were in charge, arc to be complimented on its arrangement and, bcanjty. This stall realised the sum of £l4 11s. Next comes the sweets and ice cream section, with its display of home-made sweets, much credit being due to those in charge, Mrs. Frceme, Misses ,T. Palmer, M. Harvey, M. Walkiuton, for raising £l4 10s. The afternoon tea room, which always does good business was much sought after, as usual, and Mesdamos V. Wybourno, Boyer, Campbell, Harden, Howard, Wicks, McGouagal, and Misses Hopkiuson and lon, had not many idle moments until the public had been served, and when the count was nfade the nice little sum of £ls 17s 3d was the result of their efforts. The mystery stall, with Mrs. (Dr.) Graves and the Ecv. Coles in charge, also did good work, and although not as attractive as the other stalls, got ■sale for most of their goods, the amount taken there being £5 (Is. Altogether the day's takings, with several small amounts coming in after the lirst count, was £2Ol 11s 2d, with still some to come in. Miss Me William, who was in charge of the lamb guessing, was kept busy, the weight being 511 b. Mr. Fowler was the winner. The turkey, weighing 141 b, was won by Air. W. Oliver, Kohi,. The goose, 91b, was won by Airs, F. E. Palmer. Airs. A. G. Wallace and Miss A. AlcGregor each Avon a cake. Aliss Hilda Parker was successful in securing a large box of chocolates. Mrs. Byrnes, sen., and Mrs. (Dr.) Graves each won a doll. Aliss She!ld (Patea) Avon a painted runner. Air. Douglas AlcGrcgor Avon a handpainted scarf. Altogether the sale Avas a most, successful one, and the committee would thank all those Avho helped in any way towards the success of (he function.
