NOTES
Mr Davis, of the local store, was unfortunate enough to meet with 3' nasty accident on Thursday, whilst cranking his car. As a result of the engine back-firing, Mr Davis’ right arm was dislocated, and rather badly broken. A complimentary social was tendered Mr Norman Mitchell, who is leaving the district, a large number attending from all parts. During the evening, Mr J. Gibbs referred to the regret felt by one and all at Mr Mitchell’s departure. During his stay amongst them he had proved himself to bo a real live wire, and had worked hard for the various institutions in the district. On behalf of his many friends he asked him, to accept a wellfilloci wallet, as a slight mark of their appreciation of his work on their behalf.
Mr Mitchell, in a brief speech, thanked Mr Gibbs for his very kind remarks, and the donors for their handsome present. He had merely done what he considered to be- liis duty, and he was more than pleased that his efforts had met with their approval. (Applause.) A most enjoyable evening was spent in cards and dancing, Mrs Hurley, presiding at the piano.
As usual, a bountiful supper was provided by the ladies, and heartily enjoyed by all.
