PATEA FIRE BRIGADE
A SUCCESSFUL DANCE It is exactly five and a half year* since the Fire Brigade held their last annual ball. Since that time stirring events have happened in various parts of the world, and the fact that the greatest war in history was being waged in which several members of the Brigade were taking part caused the Brigade officials to postpone all functions of a social nature until the war was a thing of the past. The attendance at last night's dance served to show most conclusively that the Brigade's entertainments had lost none of their popularity and it is safe to assert that the event was one . f the most pleasant that had been spent in the Hall for many a long day. The floor was in excellent order, and the music being in the hands of Mrs. Mitchell and her orchestra, left nothing to be desired. Extras during the evening were kindly played by Mrs. Ehrke, Miss Hamerton, Miss Godfrey, Miss Hodge, Mr. A. Carey, and Mr. H. Smith. The supper table was prettily decorated with spring flowers by Miss Hamcrton, and presented a very fine appearance.
The supper, which was in charge of the lady friends of the Brigade, was, as usual, a feature of the evening's enjoyment and was heartily appreciated. Gapt. Glenny, Lieut. Adams and Secretary Carey as Masters of the Ceremonies saw that everyone was made at home, and assisted to make the ovcning an enjoyable one.
The Committee desire to tender their very hearty thanks to all those who in various ways contributed to make the function so pronounced a success.
