H.M.S. NEW ZEALAND.
I.OKD JFLLICOE'S VISIT In view of the fact that the curtailed railway services made it impossible for couuiry children to visit Wellington and see New Zealand's battleships the local Committee of the Navy League did what they considered the next best thing' and endeavoured to induce Lord .Jellicoe to pay a visit to Taranaki, stopping for a \'c\v minutes at the principal schools en route. The local Secretary of the League has jusl received word from Mr. Darrock of the Welling!on .Branch to the effect that every effort was made in the direction indicated by the Patea branch, but without success, want of time making it impracticable for Lord .lollicoe to pay the visit. Mr. Darrock slated he found the admiral very sympathetic and extremely sorry that he could not come along. He himself would like lo shake hands with every child in New Zealand.
