REPATRIATION COMMITTEE

A mooting of the Repatriation Committee was hold on Tuesday night, Mr C. R. Honeyfiold presiding. Messrs Stephenson, Hemingway and Strouta were also present. The Secretary reported that the whole of the amounts applied for on behalf of returned men had boon granted and the cheques received. Several applications for loans were received from returned men, one being hold over for further details and the rest sent forward with the Committee's recommendation that they be granted. Mr. Hemingway said a rather mis-, leading paragraph had appeared in the Now Zealand Times recently stating that members of Repatriation Board's -were receiving. £1 Is a day for each meeting. This was thought by many to include Repatriation Committees who, of course, received nothing for their services. Members were of opinion that the paragraph in question was most misleading and should be contradicted. No action was taken in the matter and the meeting adjourned.
