PERSONAL.
Advice has been received in Christchurch that the Rev. J. Bullock, organising secretary of tho Church of England Men's Society, left England recently as chaplain to the troopship Briton which is expected to arrive in the Dominion about duly -fith.
Tho'wedding took place at Waiiara recently of Miss Bessie Jonas, eldest daughter of the late Mr. Win. Jonas of Kukaramoa, and Mr. Rrnos.t Elliott, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Elliott of Onacro. Misses Stm-ey .Tonas and Marjoric Hine were bridesmaids, Mr. Goo.. Rogers of Stratford being best man. A social was given last week at the Foresters' Hall by the commercial students of the Technical School, Ilawora, to Miss Doris Lovell, who has severed her connection with the school as assistant commercial instructor. The presents took the form of a silver trinket case and an illuminated address, which contained the names of her former students. Those were given by the students of the commercial section, while a silver vase was giving by the teaching staff. There were many parents and friends present. The evening took the form of songs, recitations and dancing. Mrs. Hooker acted as chaperone. In the unavoidable absence of Mr. Gray, the principal, the presentation was made by Mr. Tugwell. Mr. Catton suitably responded on behalf of Miss Lovell.
