THE NEW ENGINEER.

The newly appointed Engineer, Mr P. G. Davis, has had an interesting career Ho served hie time as an apprentice in the Manchester Central Station powerhouse and has also held several positions at Home as erector and officer in charge of running plants. On arriving in the Dominion some six years ago he was appointed eleotrioian in charge of the Waihi gold mining company, a position whion he held until April last on completion of the Horabora scheme. His position with the Waibi coy. gave him full control of the electric plant which was in many sections where steam, gas and water were used as prime movers, At the present time Mr Davis is engaged in installing a small electric plant for tbe Waipa Railway and Collieries Ltd, but it is understood that be can take up bis new duties almost immediately. Mr Davis has had a good technical training in electrical engineering having gained s first class certificate In Honours Grade of Electrical Engineering at the Royal Technical Institute, Salford, England. Mr Davis is fully conversant with moving pictures and is quite capable Of taking charge of this particular work on behalf of tbe Council should it decide to embark in the Municipal Picture enterprise. Mr Davis is married and has a family of one.
