The concert and danci given by the band as a a benefit to Miss Gould promises to be something out of the ordinary, word has been received that Mrs Ivo Symes and party, are coming from Wanganui to assist with the ooncert.

The funeral of the late Mrs Mount took place at the Patea Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, th& Rev A. W. Payne, M.A., Vicar of Patea, officiating. A number of friends from Waverley and district attended to pay their last tribute of respect to the memory of the deceased. '.The coffin was completely hidden by the floral tributes received, Mr and Mrs W. A. Chisholm arrived home last evening ofter a four months holiday in Sydney. Questioned as to the smallpox epidemio there they state things are very bad indeed, though the Health Department are doing all in their power to stay the ravages of the deaease. There have been over 600 cases in Sydney alone and over 700,000 people have been vaccinated. There is still a continued stream of people passing through the Health Department's officers each day to be vaccinated. About 1200 a day on an average are put through; The Health Department are very car.-ful about people travelling by steamer. It took Mr and Mrs Chisholm sis weeks to get their olearanoe to return home, They have had beautiful weather throughout the trip and had not seen a drop of rain for three months- until they arrived home yesterday.
