FOOTBALL.
A meeting of the Waverley Footbvl Club was held in tha Clarendon hotel on Wednesday evening, Mr G, Lupton being votnd to the chair. The secretary, Mr P. Syines, stated that the m'etir.g had baen cal'ed to conaidar what 9tfps should ba taken as regards the wind-up of football for the season. Some of the members thought a sport's meeting should be held, others a smoke concert and the majority seamod iu favour of a danca. It was finally decided that a dance be held on Wednes. day, October, Ist. in the Town Hull. It was resolved th»t the prica of adnrssion be 03 f >r gentlemen and Indies free. It was decided to form a committee of nil the active members of the Chib with Messrs Sfc<»n Symes and J. Laidlaw as joint secretaries. The sub committee of management was as follows :—W. Morrison, G. Aiken, B. Turner, G. Lupton, R. Langlon, N. McLe\n, B. Wall and tho secretaries.
It was decided to have three musicians and to take special care with the floor.
A team of fifteen footballers from Kaimanuka have challenged a Waverley team to a friendly game, and the match will be played in the Domain on Saturday afternoon.
