LADIES' SEWING GUILD.
Social. The third scc'al unde.r the auspices of the Ladies' Sewing Guild was held in St. Andrew's hall on Wednesday evening Th|ere was a large attendance, the Rev. D. Mclvor, presiding. The first part of the programme was a series of limelight lantern viewß. Mr Banks is an expert in the manipulation of the'lantern and has a great number of slides by the best makers in the world; The following subjects were dealt with : Colou-ed vinwa of soenery of the basin of the river Thames. England ; Balmoral Castle, Yachting on the Clyde, The British Navy, past and present, A Trip round the World with a Camera, via Suez and home again through America, also a series of Animal and Nature studies. Although the moving pictuns have taken a certain amount of interest from the lantern elides, time passess all too quickly wheu such beautiful pictures are shown as were screened on Wednesday evening. The second part of the evening was devoted to songs, recitations and music, the following programme being gone through:—Uhoir, Anthem ; recitation : " Story of mv Life," Mr Marshall; song: '' Ora Pro Nobis," Miss Miller ; organ selection, Roy Keith; song, Mr Muir, spur ; duet, Misses Part'idge ; recitation, Mr Dazzler; song, Master W. Catananh. While refreshments werp being handed round there w*s an amusing competition on the word "Social." the prize eventually being won by Miss G. Banks.
