The following players will represent Patea against Wayerley next Saturday afternoon: —Full, Eoacho; three quarters, Joilie (capt.), Hamilton and J. Paterson ; halves, Burke and W. Paterson; wings, A. Pearce and W, Powdrell; forwards, 0, Hawken, Ball, Eastbury, H. Gower, A. Gower, S. Taplijx and W, Scown. The match wiU be played pn the Patea Domain, commencing at three o’clock. The following players will represent tho Patea Juniors against the Kakaramea Juniors on the Domain next Friday afternoon Full, Bummers j threequarters, H, Syrnes, B, Hamerton and A. Baxter; halves, T. Hotter and Eip, Jacomb ; wings, H. Carr and T. Gilligan ; ( forwards, T. Sheahan, A. Larking, W. Prouse, Barnett, T. Lewis, W. McComisky and C. Honeytield, Emergencies—W. Potts and H. Brown.
TJie following wjll represent the Kakaramea Juniors:—Powdrell (3), Williamson (2), Taylor (2), Ball (2), Burke (2), Donovan, W, Taplin, O’Neil and W. Hamilton. Pipy will commence at three o’clock Jharp.
The Patea and Kakaramoa teams met on the Domain on Friday afternoon last, when the hitter was victorious by three points (a try) to nil. The try was J obtained by Alf. Pearpo close to the goal 1 posts—just three minutes before the close of the game—but Burke failed'to convert. The game was very closely con tested all through, the forwards qf each team playing really well; but the Patea backs wore very pinch “ off, ■' and the Kakaj-amea backs very much “ on.*’ As all players, no doubt, did their best, I will not individualise, The Rev. C. C. Harper acted as referee, and Messrs P. Roach© (Kakaromea) and A. Sergeant (Patea) as touch-judges. By the result of this match the Kakaramea boys become the winners of tuc tournament cup, which vvil 1 bo presented to tbqir captain at the Social on Friday, 23rd inst. The Wanganui-Auckland match, played at Auckland on Saturday afternoon last, resulted in a win for Auckland by six points (two tries) to' three ' (try). The gpmo was a very exciting oiff, and “ hard Ji}ck ” prevented it from ending in a draw or win for Wanganui, Manawatu was defeated by Wellington by 14 points to nil. The telegraphic report says:—The Wellington “ rep. ” team has seldom shown such bad form as was exhibited in to-day’s match.
