The engine-driver, who was under the influence of drink, was the cause. At Nhill ho began to tamper with the engine, sending it full speed ahead. The fireman, seeing that the driver was burling tho train on to destruction, endeavoured to overpower him, and a desperate struggle ensued on the eugine. Tho fireman managed to stun the man and pulled the train up, when the guard took the fireman’s place, and tho latter acted as driver for tho rest of the journey. '
