EXPLOSION ON BOARD A SHIP.

Sydney, August 6. The statement of the mate of the Elizabeth is that the galley must have been full of gaseous vapour from the little forehatch, which was uncovered, and ignition followed the cook’s entry with the lamp. One poor fellow was nearly naked with his shirt on fire. The cook was lifted out of tho coals, where he had fallen after being shot to a great height. His clothes were on fire,- and tho unfortunate fellow was in great agony. The waterman, who brought off one of the crew (also on fire), was severely burned. The vessel looks like a punt into which conk are dumped.
